Jsem moc ráda, že máme možnost v našem Jazykovém centru Bučovice pravidelně přivítat rodilé mluvčí – téměř každý semestr. Je to vždy obrovské obohacení pro naše studenty i pro nás lektory. A tentokrát tomu nebylo jinak. Vanessa, Kanaďanka s britskými kořeny, je opravdu výjimečný člověk. Přijela k nám na jarní semestr, aby studentům přiblížila kanadskou i britskou kulturu, zapojila se do výuky u nás v jazykovce, podívala se do místních škol v Bučovicích, Slavkově u Brna a okolí a hlavně – strávila čas se studenty, kteří si její vstupy velmi užili.

Vanesa si celý pobyt velmi pochvalovala. Říkala, že si program skutečně užila, že byl pestrý a skvěle zorganizovaný, a že jsme do něj vložili spoustu úsilí. Ostatně - přesvědčte se sami: 

I have just completed a great 7-week visit teaching with the JCB.

In Canada I teach English as a second language to adult newcomers from countries around the world. Working with the JCB, I have been able to practise and strengthen my teaching skills with students of all ages, in classes at the JCB and in schools here in Bučovice, Slavkov u Brna and the surrounding area. I have picked up useful, new teaching techniques to apply when I am back home.

I think that the students really benefitted from the opportunity to listen to and practise speaking with me, an English native speaker. They were interested in meeting someone from elsewhere and asked many questions about Canada and Canadian life. For my part, I learned about the education system in the Czech Republic, as well as about Moravian food and traditions. Easter traditions, especially with the rattle and the whip, were certainly a surprise.

Many thanks to the JCB for organising such a great teaching visit for me – and to all the teachers who invited me into their classrooms and made me feel welcome and supported in their classes. And a special thanks to all the JCB students for their class participation, for sharing information about Moravian traditions and life with me and for helping to make the classes so enjoyable.
